Default Game crashing- repair data archive

So my computer of several years now started to have some resetting/crashing issues as of a couple weeks. While playing the game, my computer would crash, and I would have to do a hard reboot.

I decided to reformat the computer, and I found out that, it runs a bit smoother, but im having a lot more problems and headaches than before :/

I'm not new to repairing data archive, a long time ago, I used to have the game crash on me a lot like this before, but i reformatted, and one day, it never had to repair again, and it ran smoothly. Now however, after this most recent reformat its doing it again, and it crashes at the most seemingly normal times.

my graphics driver is totally updated, and i did al lthe windows updates to ensure that it was installed correctly. I didn't however upgrade the drivers on my motherboard, because im not sure on which one to download. This is my mobo.

http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Support/...ProductID=1881

I had to download the audio driver off that site so i could hear things, and I used that and it works fine, but it seemed odd to me that that was the only driver i had to download? there are several other DLs there and i dont know which one i need to obtain.

I have a couple Mainboard cds here, cant remember if its for my mobo, but when i put them in it just says the mobo doesnt recognize it anyways, like its the wrong cd or something. so im not sure if my computer is so unstable because i dont have enough drivers for my motherboard? please help, anything will be appreciated!

it may also be noted my gfx card is an ATI Radeon x800 series?

I must say kudos to Gigabyte for their site layout - very nice.

Rather than telling you which drivers to download, why not click that nice "scan your computer" button. It says it's free, so why not?

Otherwise, download all the drivers that are for your system (Windows XP, at a guess?) but skip the RAID ones if you don't run a RAID array.

When you've done that and your system still fails (bet it does!), give us some more details and we'll see what we can work out

I've never downloaded drivers off Windows Update, so dunno about that. I put all the drivers on a flash drive before reformatting. It's just more convenient that way, IMO.

The driver you want is "NVIDIA Chipset driver for nForce3 series (Included LAN driver)", which is here:
http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Support/...r&FileID=85 0

If for some reason that doesn't work out, you can try Nvidia's, which is a few months newer than the one on Gigabyte's website:

I've downloaded the drivers suggested by eggrolls, and as well, used the driveragent to search for my non-updated drivers, and have updated those, as well as all the windows updates.

I also found another stick of RAM, and swapped it in with one of the sticks that I figured may have been defective. The computer actually runs smoothly now, and doesn't repair data archive any longer. (problem solved?..partially.)

but the game STILL randomly crashes. There really doesn't seem to be a method or pattern to its crashes, besides the fact of me, being in guildwars. This isn't the only game it crashes in however.

There are 2 drivers that driveragent.com says are "Bad"

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ (processor)
NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management (under system devices)

I'm not quite sure how to find the drivers for these though as they don't provide a direct link, and googling it always ends up with me being unsure, and confused on what to download, if i even need to download anything.

It should also be noted that I had crashing game issues in the past, but the quick fix seemed to be mainly my gfx card. I would take apart the computer, and find out that the gfx card was clogged with dust, so i figured it was overheating, shot a little compressed air in it, and around the computer, and the computer was fine.

I tried that method this time, took apart the computer, but my gfx card is spot-free of dust, not even one speck, and it's still crashing. So yeah, those are my symptoms, hopefully someone can assist me on this problem!

Unless I'm very much mistaken (has been known ^^ ), both those drivers should have been part of the motherboard driver set that you already downloaded.

In what way are they "bad?" Non-WHQL, or something important?

(Note the techno-sarcasm...)

basically, not up to date is what the website means, there are two columns, if its up to date, its a green check, if its not, then its a red check...or "Bad" so they say.

May not be the case, but if you have any doc's you want to keep might want to make a second copy somewhere.
